Some people do things because that is what they do, but others do things because that is who they are. I draw and paint because that is a large part of who I am.

Since I was a young child, I delighted in creating things for the ones I loved. It runs in my family. My grandfather, uncles and cousins built houses and my grandmother made everything by hand like felt hats, suits, braided rugs, and doll houses for the grandkids. My mother did the same and made things like wedding dresses and men’s suits, reupholstered furniture, and crocheted afghans for all of us. Making things, including drawing, came naturally to me too, and I was happy to see the smiles on people’s faces when I gave them something I made with my own hands. So while my Mom and Dad were hard at work, my six brothers were excelling at sports and my sister was studying at college, I was busy at home baking desserts, sewing, playing violin and French horn, growing flowers, or making hand-made gifts and art to decorate the house for holidays. |

| My love of creating and sharing continued into college where for 2 years I studied at Mills College in Oakland and took my first formal art classes. Three years later I was graduated from San Jose State University with an Art minor, a Liberal Studies major, an Elementary School Teaching Credential, and then married my terrific husband, Rich. In the years that followed I home-schooled my five wonderful children and took group and private lessons in drawing, oil and watercolor painting from some fantastic local artists like Dale Momii, Gladys Robinson, Judy Chiu, and Beth DelGrande. Then in 2006 when I had a bit more time, I decided to start an art business and sell my original artwork and things I made from that art like prints, greeting cards, lavender sachets, cups and more. These days I’m still enjoying drawing and painting the inspirational beauty of this wonderful world God has given us. | ![]() |
