My Journey as an artist began over 25 years ago when I lived in New Mexico near a Navajo reservation. There I was fortunate to meet a group of talented artists willing to let me work with them. This early experience opened up a whole new world for me, the world of allowing myself to be creative. It energized the colors, shapes. and textures of my designs. The soul and heart of my work began to show.
After moving back to California, I studied art at Mission College and took a variety of work shops, I also became a professional picture framer. My husband and I owned and operated a frame shop/gallery for about eight years. While it was a joy to show art made by fellow artists, there came a time when I felt the need to devote more time to my own art. I took classes at the Kala Art institute, the Pacific Art League and the institute of Contemporary Art in San Jose.
My monotypes are made by creating images with inks on a plexiglass plate and use my press to transfer the images onto acid free rag paper. I occasionally enhance my monotype images with papers and foils.
As an artist, my hope is to bring color and joy into your environment.
