I say to myself, “Keep it colorful, fun and slightly off kilter.”
San Francisco was my home town. I continue to live in the Bay Area.
My fifth grade teacher called attention to my drawing ability and that encouragement fired me up. From then on I paid more attention to ART classes than any other subject. I continued in the same direction while at Lincoln High School, but my doodles were usually house plans and exteriors. So at U.C. Berkeley I innocently signed up for Architecture. After a year or so however my math was so-o-o bad a counselor announced, “Your house’s will never stand up.” He scared me (I actually believed him) so I changed my major to Fine Art eventually earning my BA. I studied at the Academy of Art in San Francisco another year or so and somewhere along the way picked up a certificate in Interior Design. About ten years ago I arrived at my stylized, architecturally influenced way of painting, populated with windows, doors, houses and buildings. The interior design haze might explain my bad-taste draperies and wallpaper and various pieces of furniture. Somehow water and floral arrangements enter my compositions and are welcomed.
Matisse is my favorite.
I’ve heard it said a house is not a home ’till an original item of art finds its way into your surroundings.
My paintings are in homes and offices along the West Coast, the East Coast, England and Europe.
